So, in just 4 days I'm off to the US of A! Yeah baby!! I'll be doing 3 cities in 17 days, hence the title...
I'll be traveling with my housemate, friend and work colleague Hashanti. We're doing just a small portion of the East Coast.
We fly out on Thursday 6 May from the new airport in Durban: King Shaka International Airport, looking forward to checking that out! It just opened yesterday (1 May) so we might still be able to smell the paint!
We land in Washington D.C. at Dulles International Airport on Friday 7 May. On Thursday 13 May we plan to take a train to Boston where we're meeting a third friend, Mairi, who's studying at the University of Massachusetts and living in a little town called Amherst.
We only plan to stay in Boston for two days and then have a little stop over in Amherst before going on to The Big Apple, The City That Never Sleeps, the one and only- NYC! Woohoo!
We plan to stay in New York for 5 days and then back to Washington D.C. for a weekend before leaving from Dulles International on 23 May and landing back in Durban on the evening of Monday 24 May.
So, for now, that's the plan. At present I have long lists of things I need to buy and do before the trip. I love lists because ticking things off is so satisfying! At present there aren't very many ticks on my list and time is running out! But the big ones are done:
1) Print e-ticket - done
2) Print out address we'll be at in Washington - done
3) Make copies of passport and visa, in case - done
4) Sort out travel insurance - done
Tomorrow I'm off to buy some dollars and maybe by some miracle the exchange rate will be favourable. Tomorrow I also begin the almost impossible task of packing light - may the force be with me!
